Kanye West leads the pack in Grammy nominations with 7 total nominations for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be held on February 12 at The Staples Center in L.A. and broadcast live on CBS. During last night's Grammy Nominations Concert all the nominees were announced. Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars each got six nominations while Lil Wayne is up for 5 and Drake, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are all up for 4.

But really, the story of the night is that Kanye West's critically-acclaimed and chart-topping album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was left off of the Album of the Year category despite the artist garnering 7 other nominations. The nominations are for songs, "All of the Lights" (3) and "Otis" (2) as well as Watch the Throne and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy both nominated for Rap Album of the Year. Wonder how Mr. West will react to the nominations and his album being left out of the top prize?
The Grammy Awards should be commended for the eclectic mix of artists present in their nominations for general categories but leaving out, hands downs, the best rap album of the year was a mistake. The album is a creative masterpiece from its instrumentation, production, lyrical content, commercial success, collaborations, variety of sound and I can go on and on. The other albums nominated are fantastic but West's release was epic.
Nonetheless, 7 nominations from the Recording Academy is a huge accomplishment so big-ups to The Grammys, to Kanye West and all the other nominees. For a full list of nominations in all categories, CLICK HERE.
